Creating a Passion For Goodness: How to Change the World

Creating a Passion For Goodness: How to Change the World

To learn how to change the world, first, you must learn what the six degrees of separation is. "Six degrees of separation is the idea that all people are six, or fewer, social connections away from each other. As a result, a chain of 'a friend of a friend' statements can be made to connect any two people in a maximum of six steps." Today we are blessed to have so many fellow humans share in the fruits of modern technology, that the number has decreased. According to Jessica Leber, a reporter for many renowned technology companies, reports that it has now become the four degrees of separation. You can learn more here, it's an interesting article about facebooks accidental catalytic reaction to this theory.

"You might not be able to change THE world, but you can change YOUR world." said, a very wise woman I am very lucky to know named Lara Patterson. Her theory suggests that, by the six degrees of separation, you really are changing THE world, while you make the effort to improve your own.

In the upcoming season of giving thanks, I feel that is appropriate to start a challenge. A challenge to change the world by just two words. Thank You.

Now, stay with me here, I'm sure your phone just buzzed, or something may have caught your attention, but this is it, this is what you're here for. Im going to tell you how we are going to change the world together.

Tell someone thank you.
For 30 days straight, starting November first. Each day, pick a new person and thank them for specific things. Really truly pour our heart out into these. Show some vulnerability and let these people know how much they mean to you. We are changing the world here, so give a little.

Examples
- Thank you so much for being there for me when I needed you.
- Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful soul with me.
- Thank you for being patient with me.
- I am thankful that you are in my life.
- You are incredible and I feel blessed to have you in my life. Thank you for being you.
- Thank you for caring about me and the people around us.
- Thank you for being so kind to me and my friends.
- Thank you for taking time out of your day to help/ hang out/ take care of me.

Need more? Replace your sorry's with thank you's and you might get a more specific message.

Instead of saying "I'm sorry I backed out on the plans we made" say "Thank you for making new plans with me, I'm looking forward to it."

Bonus Message

Abby's Night Time Prayer
Dear lord, thank you for blessing me with another wonderful wonderful day down here on this beautiful beautiful earth. Thank you for blessing me with the shoes on my feet, the roof above my head, food on the table and the clothes on my back. Thank you so much for blessing my friends, family, and those around me with the same.

This reminds me everyday that I am the luckiest girl in the world for having so many things to be thankful for.
